On a fine day we all loaded onto the boat from beside Mayflower Steps and with an
expert commentary provided by Nigel Overton from the City Museum and Art Gallery
and headed for the Breakwater. The only problem was the wind was a bit strong and
we were only just permitted to land, with the wind speed just 2mph below the safety
limit.
Once on the Breakwater itself we split into groups going to the lighthouse
and the cage first. Nigel pointed out the stones commemorating the visits of the
Duke of Clarence (William IV) and Princess Victoria (Queen Victoria) as well as the
history of the Breakwater.
On the way back we had time to go up the Plym and into
Hooe Lake as the tide was in.
